Coming across a fake page or profile on Facebook that uses your brand's name, logo, or corporate imagery poses a serious reputational and security risk — especially if it's being used to contact your customers for fraud.
Fake page vs. fake profile
There are two distinct violation types on Facebook: a fake Page impersonating your corporate Page, or a fake personal profile impersonating one of your employees/your brand. Each follows a different reporting form.
Step-by-step reporting process
- Click the three-dot menu at the top of the fake page/profile and select "Find support or report"
- Choose "Impersonation" or "It's impersonating me or someone I know" as the violation type; for a corporate brand, select "It's impersonating a business"
- You can speed up the process by submitting official trademark registration details through META's Brand Rights Protection portal
Why isn't a single report enough?
Fake Facebook pages often build trust with harmless content before starting to run fraud through ads or messaging. This means a page may need to be monitored even while it looks "new and inactive" — by the time the violation starts, it may already be too late to catch it.
Achernar's Fake Account Tracking service continuously monitors for fake accounts and pages impersonating your brand on social media, detecting a new impersonation page the moment it appears and launching the reporting process.
