Reddit works differently from other social platforms because of its topic-based community structure (subreddits) — which means content removal follows a different logic too. When you encounter a post or comment targeting your brand, you have two separate parties to approach: subreddit moderators and Reddit itself.
1. Contacting subreddit moderators
Every subreddit has its own rules and moderator team. You can message moderators directly (modmail) via the "moderators" list of the relevant subreddit to report a rule violation. Many subreddits act quickly on spam, fraud, and reputation-damaging content.
2. Reddit's official reporting mechanism
If moderators don't take sufficient action, or the content directly violates Reddit's site-wide rules (fraud, copyright infringement, doxxing), you can report the post/comment directly to Reddit using the "Report" option. A separate DMCA form exists for copyright violations.
Why is Reddit hard to track?
Reddit users typically operate under pseudonyms, and the same topic can be discussed in parallel across dozens of different subreddits. Even if one post is removed, the same content can reappear in another subreddit or under a new account — which is why continuous monitoring is necessary.
